Do I need an Apple Music subscription?
Yes. Dropwatch reads the artists in your Apple Music library and plays releases through Apple Music, so an active subscription is required.
Why does Dropwatch ask for Media & Apple Music access?
That permission lets the app read the artists in your library so it can find their new releases. The only things that leave your device are the lookups needed to fetch release details — song and artist names to Apple, and record-label names to MusicBrainz when Apple's catalog has no label listing. No account or personal data is sent with them; the privacy policy spells this out in full. You can manage this permission in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Media & Apple Music.
The first scan is taking a while. Is that normal?
For large libraries the first scan can take time because it checks every artist you follow. It runs in the background and resumes where it left off, so you can leave the app and come back — progress is saved. You can watch the count under Settings.
Can I use Dropwatch in the car?
Yes — Dropwatch supports CarPlay, so you can browse and play your new releases while driving. CarPlay is a Dropwatch Pro feature; on the free tier the CarPlay screen shows an unlock prompt instead of your releases.
How do I stop following an artist?
Open the Artists tab and toggle off any artist you don't want included in scans.

What do I get for free, and what does Pro add?
Dropwatch is free to use, and every tier tracks your whole library — there is no cap on how many artists you follow. What the free tier caps is the feed: it shows you new releases from your 50 most recently added artists. That set is picked for you by how recently you added each artist, not chosen by hand. Dropwatch Pro removes that limit — every artist in your library gets into the feed instead of just 50 — and adds CarPlay support. Exporting your artists and release history to a CSV file is free for everyone.
What does Pro cost?
$2.99 per month, or $19.99 per year. Prices are in US dollars; the App Store shows the exact price in your local currency before you confirm. There is no free trial at launch. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. During the TestFlight beta nothing is charged at all — every purchase runs in Apple's sandbox, so Pro is free to try for as long as the beta runs.
I'm on TestFlight and Pro switched itself off. Is that a bug?
No. Apple runs beta subscriptions on a compressed schedule — they renew daily and stop after about a week, whatever plan you picked. Just subscribe again; it is still free, and you were never charged. A beta subscription also doesn't carry over to the App Store version at launch.
Does it renew automatically?
Yes. Both plans are auto-renewable subscriptions. Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
How do I cancel?
Cancel any time in iOS Settings → your name (Apple Account) → Subscriptions → Dropwatch → Cancel Subscription. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for. Subscriptions are managed by Apple, so cancellation happens there rather than inside Dropwatch — we cannot cancel a subscription for you.
I already paid, but Pro isn't showing up. How do I restore it?
Open Dropwatch, bring up the Pro screen, and tap Restore Purchases at the bottom. That asks the App Store to re-check your Apple Account and re-applies Pro if an active subscription is found. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with — if you use a different account, the purchase won't be found. If it still doesn't restore, email support@dropwatchapp.com.
Refunds
All purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We have no ability to issue a refund ourselves.
